Gerdien Regts
I am a postdoc researcher at the Faculty of Economics and Business, department Operations. My research interests are in the field of Healthcare Management and include regional healthcare networks, value-based healthcare, and evaluating the hospitalist, a new medical function in Dutch hospitals. Currently, I'm involved in a project in which we investigate the way in which value-based healthcare in regional oncology networks facilitates improvement of healthcare delivery.
Michelle Bruijn
My name is Michelle Bruijn and I work at the Faculty of Law, Department of Legal Methods. My research focuses on the developments within the fields of drug and tobacco control. The research on drug control focuses on the underlying rationales for the policies on recreational cannabis in the Netherlands and Canada, the possibilities that international law provide to regulate recreational cannabis, the use of eviction – removing persons from premises – to fight drug-related activities, the legal protection against these drug-related evictions, and the influence of human rights in drug eviction cases. My research on tobacco control focuses on the legal aspects of smoke free policies in the Netherlands, specifically the municipality of Groningen and the municipality of Rotterdam.
Raun van Ooijen
Raun van Ooijen is a Health Economist at the department of Health Sciences at the University Medical Center Groningen and University of Groningen and a fellow of Netspar. His research focuses on health-related risks over the life cycle, with an emphasis on work disability and long-term care. He is particularly interested in the value of social insurance programs to mitigate these risks and their effects on socioeconomic inequalities.
Oskar Roemeling
Oskar is an Assistant Professor at the department of Innovation Management & Strategy of the Faculty of Economics and Business. He has a background in industrial and organizational psychology (MSc.) and human resource management (MSc.). Oskar obtained his PhD in the domain of Operations Management focusing on the use of Lean Manufacturing in healthcare environments. His main research interest are the application of continuous improvement methods in healthcare as well as the adoption of value based healthcare. In addition, Oskar is interested in more general healthcare management relates issues.
Stefan Pichler
Stefan Pichler is an Associate Professor at RUG since November 2021. Stefan Pichler’s research is in the field of applied health and labor economics. In particular, he analyzes the interaction of social security systems with labor markets and population health. Another focus of his work are the economic consequences of diseases. His research has been published in leading international field journals such as Journal of Human Resources, the Journal of Public Economics, and the Journal of Health Economics, , but also in multidisciplinary and policy journals such as Health Affairs and PNAS. He previously worked as senior researcher for KOF at ETH Zurich (2013-2021) and as a research assistant at TU Darmstadt (2009-2013). He also held a short-term position as TA at Goethe University Frankfurt (2010-2011). Stefan Pichler completed his doctoral studies at the Graduate School of Finance Economics and Management and earned his PhD in 2013 at the TU Darmstadt. The title of his PhD thesis is “Infectious Diseases and the Economy”. Before that he studied at Goethe University Frankfurt and the Free University of Bolzano.
