Brain gain from emigration
Date: | 01 November 2017 |
The research of Marianna Papakonstantinou is featured in Trouw (in Dutch): she finds that countries with greater emigration subsequently experience faster growth in knowledge-intensive industries. This implies that factors such as return migration, spending of remmitances on education, and greater incentives for education outweigh the immediate loss of human capital. The research is part of Marianna's dissertation, which she will defend tomorrow.
