Public Engagement

Connection with the people

At Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health we believe that everyone is needed to achieve more healthy years. Major health challenges require efforts not only from the government and science, but also from the people themselves. They form the community we want to make healthier and ultimately benefit from the results.

Interaction between science and people
We stimulate interaction between scientists and citizens through citizen science and science communication. We set up research projects and involve people in data collection, giving them more insight into their health and living environment. We also develop interactive installations that make scientific knowledge accessible to the general public.

Collaboration with partners
We work together with partners such as Forum Groningen, HANNN and CMO STAMM. Together we develop various instruments that promote the interaction between science and society, such as podcasts, talk shows, installations, exhibitions and even an escape room. These are located at various locations in the Netherlands, so that as many people as possible can benefit from accessible science.

Impact on public health
Our public engagement program increases the impact of science on public health and contributes to more healthy years for all residents of the Northern Netherlands.
