Together for Mental Health Prevention in the Netherlands
Across the Netherlands, mental health is under pressure, especially for young people. In response, the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health, Mentaal Gezond Groningen, MIND Us, the Nationaal Plan Hoofdzaken, and the UMCG are organizing a symposium dedicated to mental health prevention. This event will bring scientific expertise, policy insights, and professional knowledge together.
Together, we explore how prevention can be effective and build support for firmly embedding it in policy and practice.
International Insights in Mental and Public Health
Internationally renowned experts will share their insights, including Ricardo Muñoz from San Francisco, known for his groundbreaking work in depression prevention and the development of Internet-based interventions to improve mental health worldwide. He will present what 60 years of research into depression prevention has taught us. Jochen Mierau, Professor of Health Economics at the University of Groningen and Scientific Director of Lifelines, will also discuss relevant aspects of mental health prevention and policy.
Dutch Approaches: Local Solutions with National Impact
Dutch regional initiatives, each facing unique mental health challenges, will present their evidence-based approaches, creating an opportunity for shared learning and practical insight.
Policy Debate: A Way Forward
The day will conclude with a debate among policymakers, focusing on interdepartmental collaboration and how mental health prevention can achieve a permanent place within government policy.
Save the Date!
Join us on June 19, 2025, in Groningen and be part of this important step toward a future where mental health is firmly embedded in health policy.
