Prof. dr. Jochen O. Mierau, wetenschappelijk directeur van Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health, heeft in het kader van het initiatief 'Lessons Learned COVID-19' een expert-reflectie voorbereid voor het ministerie van VWS. Mierau geeft advies en aanbevelingen vanuit het perspectief van volksgezondheid en economie over de wijze waarop maatregelen moeten worden gewijzigd/geïntroduceerd om de potentiële tweede golf van de coronaviruspandemie te voorkomen. Hij benadrukt onder andere een regionale aanpak van de coronamaatregelen, samenwerking met maatschappelijke organisaties, het belang van het opzetten van regionale datacenters en stelt voor om de zogenaamde 'translational public health' aanpak te hanteren.

Ready for the Second Wave, Ready for the Future: Lessons Learned from the First Wave

Prof. dr. Jochen O. Mierau, scientific director of the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health, has prepared an expert-reflection as a part of the 'Lessons Learned COVID-19' initiative for the VWS (Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport).

In the reflection, Mierau provides advice and recommendations from the public health and economic perspective on how the COVID-19 measures should be changed/introduced for the potential second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Among other things, he emphasizes a regional approach to the corona measures, cooperation with societal organizations, the importance of creating regional data centres, and suggests to take the so-called 'translational public health' approach.
