Big grant for astronomer

Rafaella Morganti, Professor of Astronomy at the University of Groningen’s Kapteyn Astronomical Institute, and astronomer at Astron, the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy in Dwingeloo, has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant. She will receive EUR 2.5 million for her research programme on the structure and evolution of radio galaxies.
It is the second ERC Advanced Grant for the Kapteyn Institute: Professor Thijs van der Hulst was awarded one last year. The ERC Advanced Grant is the largest individual research grant awarded by the European Research Council.
