Intercultural Development Inventory

The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), based on the developmental model of intercultural sensitivity, measures how one experiences cultural difference, it is an instrument that ascertains worldview orientations. This questionnaire has scales for denial, defense, reversal, minimization, acceptance, and adaptation, which together form a developmental continuum from a monocultural to a multicultural mindset. A developmental score, is used to determine an individual’s ‘position’ along the developmental continuum.

The Multicultural Personality Questionnaire (MPQ), a trait-based instrument, measures cultural empathy, open-mindedness, social initiative, emotional stability and flexibility.
