The round table ‘Sector coupling – clean energy opportunities and challenges’ on the 13th of June 2018 addresses the regulatory and economic opportunities and challenges of sector coupling. Connecting sustainable electricity from the power sector with the heat and transport sectors contributes to the energy transition. Great amounts of cheap green electricity will increasingly be used to generate heat for use in buildings and industry, or for electric transportation. Electricity can either be used directly, indirectly via battery storage, or transformed into other energy carriers via e.g. power-to-gas, hydrogen and power-to-heat processes.
