About the modular illustration system
The modular illustration system compromises recognizable and simple icons that stand for the 'connecting´ role and the work method of the Schools (general or corporate icons), or represent the eponym or themes of the Schools (icons of the Schools).
Features
-
The system contains nine icons for each School and five general or corporate icons.
-
An icon is made up of a maximum of two colours and compromises a coloured area with an illustration in it. The icons may only be applied in their original form.
-
The icons were carefully designed and produced. Ratios, line widths, and colours have been aligned with one another. This serves the recognition and the visual appeal.
So, do not use the icons as shown in the two examples below: the core icon of the Rudolf Agricola School for Sustainable Development with added headphones and an example in which the corporate conversation icon is used as a style element for a citation.

Corporate icons for the Schools for Science & Society
The general or corporate icons of the Schools for Science & Society symbolize the work method and the role of the Schools in society. There are five icons, including a core icon that illustrates the dialogue between science and society. These icons can be used:
-
to tell the general story of the Schools: why were they established, what do they want to achieve, how do they go about that, and what are they working on.
-
in communications of a School, in addition to their own set. In that context, the general icons can function as connecting story elements.
Icons of the Schools for Science & Society
Each School has its own set of nine icons that capture the themes and uniqueness of the specific School. As is the case with the corporate icons, each School has its own core icon. This is a reference to the core theme of the School´s eponym.
The icons can be used to emphasize or make a connection to specific topics, moments, or current events. The icons are always used in combination with each other, which gives them a symbolic or narrative role in the communication.
Core icons
The core icons bring extra recognition to the illustration system, both on the corporate level and on the level of the Schools.
Core icons must not be confused with logos! They are always used in combination with one, and preferably two or three, other icons and are never placed at the same height as the corporate logo.
