Y.O. (Yuliya) Hilevych, PhD

I am an Associate Professor of Economic and Social History at the University of Groningen. Joined Groningen in 2021 as an Assistant Professor. Before that, I was a British Academy Newton International Fellow in the Faculty of History at the University of Cambridge (2018-2019) and a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Lincoln in the UK (2020-2021).

I hold BA and MA degrees (2010, 2011) in History and Theory of Sociology from the Faculty of History at the University of Lviv in Ukraine, and a PhD in Sociology (2016) from Wageningen University (a joint degree with Radboud University) in the Netherlands. I also carried out projects for the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice, the United Nations (UNFPA), and the Centre for Urban History of East Central Europe in Lviv, Ukraine.
