1. Replication in Action
Together with Jeannette Pols, Jonna Brenninkmeijer, and Stephanie Meirmans I am involved in an NWO-funded research project that is titled Replication in Action: Understanding the Replication Crisis. Using ethographic methods we study how scientists solve the many practical, methodological, and epistemological problems of replication. You can find our blog here: https://replicationinaction.blog/
2. Criticism & Conversation
Social media have greatly expanded the possibilities for academics to engage in conversation with each other. This development has foregrounded a question that arguably always hangs over academic discourse: how disagreement should be managed in such a way that it remains productive and does not hurt relations. How to combine the need for criticism with the need for collaboration and community? With Sarahanne Field I have written about how this issue plays out in and around the current reform efforts in Psychology. I intend to develop this interest further into a historical study of criticism and conversation in academia.
