SpeakApps

The European project SpeakApps was launched during the month of February 2011. The objective of this initiative, funded by the European Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP), is to provide user access to a range of online tools whose aim is to facilitate oral practice of a language through an online platform. This project fills a gap in language training and allows us to go beyond simple grammar or reading comprehension exercises.

The base languages employed by this European project are Catalan, Dutch, Irish, Swedish, Polish and English but the idea is to expand it to include new languages and help them evolve thanks to feedback from students, teachers and institutions devoted to foreign language teaching. Moreover, the project is organized as a free software community. This means that all of the tools and activities to be included in SpeakApps will be available for download and online use by all interested persons or institutions. Lastly, the SpeakApps web will also provide the technical and pedagogical guides needed to use its content and incorporate new languages.
