Dutch for UG students, PhDs, and postdocs

Would you like to learn Dutch during your studies, while obtaining your PhD, or while doing research at the University of Groningen? That’s possible! As an international at the UG doing a full-time degree or with a full-time appointment, the Board of the University will reimburse you for five courses you take at the Language Centre. You can take Dutch courses up to level B1, Dutch courses for German speakers up to level B2, and conversation courses up to level A2. Learn more about who can participate in these courses and how much of the costs will be reimbursed here.
For years now, the Board of the University has made funds available for a set number of courses per year, through which thousands of internationals have learned to speak their first words and sentences in Dutch! However, the demand is always greater than the number of courses available, which means not everyone may always immediately have a spot in a course. Most courses fill up quickly as soon as registration opens. Would you like to take a course? We advise you to be ready to register the moment registration opens in order to have the best chance of securing a spot in the course.
It is useful to sign up to our newsletter, in which we will let you know as soon as registration opens again.
