PhD & Postdoc Openings

There are currently three openings for research positions in areas related to Human-Centric AI.

Postdoctoral researcher on Human – Centred Artificial Intelligence (0.6-1.0 FTE)

The University of Groningen is offering a postdoctoral research position on Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence (HCAI). The position is linked with and funded from European research projects in this area.

As part of the successful thread of HCAI STAR ( Safe and Trusted Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence in Future Manufacturing Lines), HumAIne (Hybrid Human-AI Decision Support for Enhancing Human Empowerment in Dynamic Situations), AI4Work (Human-Centric Digital Twin Approaches to Trustworthy AI and Robotics for Improved Working Conditions), SkillAIbility (Co-designing human centric pathways for future skills in manufacturing through augmented, empowered, inclusive, and symbiotic complementarities between AI, automation and human task), and the newly approved AIXpert (An agentic, multi-layer, GenAI-powered backbone to make an AI system explainable, accountable, and transparent).

PhD position on Human-AI symbiosis in work environments (1.0 FTE)

FEBRI, the graduate school and research institute of the Faculty of Economics and Business has a PhD position on Human-AI symbiosis in work environments.

Artificial Intelligence is transforming jobs in profound ways. What could a roadmap for positive adoption of human-AI synergies look like? How to design human-centred AI-enabled processes in manufacturing environments that capitalise on the best of both human and AI skills? What does this mean for the future human skills in manufacturing and what are the requirements for human-AI interaction and overall work design? These are key questions that you are expected to address in this exciting new PhD position.

PhD position on Auditing and Evaluating Human-Centred AI (1.0 FTE)

FEBRI, the graduate school and research institute of the Faculty of Economics and Business has available a PhD position Auditing and Evaluating Human-Centred AI.

The ubiquitous availability of AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) has created significant opportunities but has also raised concerns about the trustworthiness of AI outcomes. Integration into operational workflows requires moving from iterative prompting and querying of AI models to intelligent AI agents’ concepts, through agentic workflows. These are among the prime targets of the newly approved AIEXPERT project: 'An agentic, multi-layer, GenAI-powered backbone to make an AI system explainable, accountable, and transparent'. AIEXPRT envisions a future where AI systems are explainable, transparent, accountable, and robust, fostering trust in human-machine interactions. The AIXPERT solutions will measure the efficiency and accuracy of AI systems and will also provide contextual explanations, offering insights into the data and models used to generate outcomes.
