Incentive Fund for Interdisciplinary Projects

The Incentive Fund for Interdisciplinary Projects, an instrument realised as part of the Framework Matching Horizon Europe programme, was established by the Executive Board to support researchers at the University of Groningen in setting up small-scale, exploratory and interdisciplinary collaborative projects that contribute to solving complex issues and require an interdisciplinary approach. These small-scale projects should ultimately contribute to increasing the societal impact of research within the University of Groningen.

Applications must be related to one of the research themes of the Schools. These research themes can be found on the websites of the Schools:

Jantina Tammes School
Wubbo Ockels School
Aletta Jacobs School
Rudolf Agricola School

The deadline for an application is 31 December 2026.


Seed fund public engagement

As part of the Open Science programme, the University of Groningen and the UMCG have introduced a seed fund for public engagement

The seed fund offers academic staff at the University of Groningen and the UMCG the opportunity to receive up to €5,000 for public engagement projects to actively involve a wider audience in their research. The total budget for the incentive fund is €30,000.
