Lowlands Science

Are you a researcher looking for a special place to bring your research to life? Do you have an original research idea that is not only socially relevant, but also offers a cool experience to Lowlands visitors? Grab your chance and submit your research proposal before 28 March 2025, then you might be able to collect three days of live data among the 65,000 Lowlands visitors! This year's festival will be held on 15, 16 and 17 August 2025.

Criteria for an application

  • It concerns scientific research often conducted in a lab setting but which would benefit from the live setting provided by Lowlands Science;
  • The primary objective is to collect research data. Education or awareness-raising may well be the secondary objective;
  • The research lends itself to an engaging public experience. The proposers have an idea for this and can implement it themselves;
  • The research theme is relevant and interesting to Lowlands visitors and matches their perception: 18-40 years old, curious, urban-oriented.

Registration opened: M20 PhD programme 2025

Are you a researcher at the University of Groningen with a strong drive for interdisciplinary research? The Ubbo Emmius Fund (UEF) invites you to submit your proposal for the M20 Promotion Programme 2025.

  • Full funding: You will receive a grant that covers all the costs of your PhD project, including personnel and material costs.
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration: You will collaborate with various faculties and contribute to solutions to pressing societal challenges.
  • Start of applications: Monday 3 February 2025
  • Deadline for submission: Monday 17 March 2025 at 23:59

Themed call: Responsible AI in Practice

SIDN Fund and Topsector ICT are looking for innovative research projects with the potential to deliver practical solutions for responsible AI. The deadline for submitting proposals is 1pm (CET) on 31 March 2025.

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers many opportunities for people, organisations, governments and society at large. It can provide a basis for all sorts of solutions to complex problems, make everyday life easier and more personal, and give innovation an enormous boost.
