Jantina Tammes School introduces Theme Coordinators
The Jantina Tammes School (JTS) introduces five theme coordinators as an expansion of its team. These theme coordinators will function as the School’s antenna in the organisation. Besides their work at the faculty they will coordinate interdisciplinary activities related to their theme. The goal is to deepen the knowledge and involvement of the School in this theme.
The Jantina Tammes School is the interdisciplinary centre of the UG dedicated to digital society, technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The new addition to the team of multiple theme coordinators is to expand the School’s capacity to engage in multidisciplinary research and education in close cooperation with societal partners.
Themes
The role of theme coordinators in the academic environment is to increase the reach into the different subfields and faculties in a way that a centralised organisation would miss. They will do this one day per week next to their daily work in their faculty. The following five themes have been assigned a coordinator with their respective candidate:
- Applied AI - George Azzopardi
- AI and language - Tommaso Caselli
- Data Autonomy - Oskar Gstrein
- Digital healthcare - Peter van Ooijen
- Digital Literacy & inclusion - Joëlle Swart
Digital prosperity for all
The Jantina Tammes School explores how societies can optimally benefit from and contribute to digitisation, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI), according to the motto ‘Digital prosperity for all’. On the one hand, JTS investigates the ways in which human-centred digital technologies and AI can be developed and applied. On the other, JTS studies the coupling of digitisation, datafication and different domains of society and how this affects the daily lives of citizens. This is done by engaging in multidisciplinary research and education, and in close cooperation with societal partners.
