JTS Fellowship Programme

The Jantina Tammes School (JTS) is delighted to announce the launch of the ‘JTS Fellowship Programme’. It offers unique opportunities for visibility, networking, and support in event and project management, all while encouraging interdisciplinary research and partnerships with societal stakeholders. With a focus on strengthening existing relationships, researchers already active within the JTS are particularly encouraged to apply. The Fellowship Programme will commence on 1 January 2025.

JTS Fellows

A ‘JTS Fellow’ is a researcher (from postdoc to professor) affiliated with the University of Groningen (RUG), conducting research in areas related to the JTS, and endorsing the mission of the Jantina Tammes School: ‘Digital prosperity for all’. The JTS pursues this goal by promoting interdisciplinary research and education, in close cooperation with societal partners.

Researchers can contribute to achieving the JTS mission in various ways, such as through knowledge sharing, conducting interdisciplinary research in collaboration with the JTS, and participating in or organising interdisciplinary activities.

Benefits for Fellows

  • Visibility: Opportunities to increase their visibility, share their research, receive recognition, and strengthen engagement with society.

  • Networking: Access to exciting collaboration and research opportunities, both within academia and industry.

  • Event management: Support in organising an interdisciplinary activity/event with the JTS.

  • Project management: Assistance with interdisciplinary grant applications, consortium building, and operational activities.

Key Features of the Fellowship

  • Expectations: Fellows must be intrinsically motivated to advance the JTS mission, actively participate in potential interdisciplinary (research) projects, act as an ambassador for the JTS in their daily work, and participate in or organise at least one activity in collaboration with the JTS per year.

  • Time commitment: Approximately half a day per month.

  • Mutual contribution: The JTS offers various opportunities to fellows but also expects an active contribution to the school.

  • Duration: The fellowship lasts three years (with the possibility of extension).

  • Number of fellows: 10 places will be available at the start of the programme, with an additional 10 fellows being accepted every six months.

  • Balanced distribution: The fellows will represent a balanced group across the various faculties of the RUG.

How to become a Fellow

Potential fellows can apply by completing this form. The JTS Management team will then decide on the admission of fellows, where they may potentially seek advice from the JTS Advisory Board. Selected fellows will be invited for an interview.

The deadline for applications is Friday 8th of November 2024 before 17:00h.
