VPRO Medialab organises the fifth edition of Public Pioneers and this time in Groningen! In collaboration with Forum Groningen, the University of Groningen (UG) and Hanzehogeschool Groningen, the impact of AI on our trust will be further explored during Public Pioneers #5: Trust me, AI know.

In a world flooded with information, trust has become an elusive commodity. Do you still believe everything you see? With fake news, AI filter bubbles, digital twins and deepfakes, it is vital to examine the impact of AI in our trust. During Public Pioneers, we will explore how public broadcasting can relate to AI. With due consideration for public values, could AI also be a force that can redefine trust in public media and journalistic stories? Through innovation and collaboration, could AI also offer radical hope and solutions to actually restore and promote trust in media and society?

The launch of Public Pioneers #5: Trust me, AI knows, begins with a public inspiration evening at Forum Groningen on the 28th of May. This evening will provide an opportunity to listen to experts on AI and trust. There will also be a panel discussion and you can see cool showcases. Get inspired by the different projects. At the end, there will be drinks where you can make valuable connections. Anyone can join this evening, just reserve a free ticket here. If you are unable to join this evening, you can still sign up for the hackathon itself.

On the 6th and 7th of June, teams consisting of students, broadcasters and experts from the field will dive into the theme of trust, AI and the media, during the hackathon of Public Pioneers #5. The different teams will work on a concept idea over two days and then develop it into an innovative prototype. On Friday afternoon, the 7th of June, several teams will present their results to the jury and the public during the Open Demos. This promises to be another cool hackathon, so register soon!

You can find more information here. Please mind that although this website is in Dutch, the event will be open to international students.
