About us
The Jantina Tammes School (JTS) is the interdisciplinary platform with a focus on digital society, technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The JTS is one of the four Schools for Science and Society, addressing societal issues together with the public, educational institutions, governments and industry.
The JTS, named after the first female Dutch professor of genetics, investigates how societies can optimally benefit from and contribute to digitalisation, digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI). Our motto: digital prosperity for all.
On the one hand, we study how human-centred digital technologies and AI can be developed and applied. On the other hand, we investigate the interrelationships between digitisation, data fusion and different domains of society, and how they affect citizens' daily lives. This is done through multidisciplinary research and teaching, and in close cooperation with societal partners.
Research
The JTS brings together researchers from different backgrounds, ranging from science and engineering to humanities and social sciences, to work together to solve complex issues.
We work on new research partnerships that will lead to innovative questions and breakthroughs that benefit academia and society. We create opportunities for researchers to be visible in and interact with society.
Education
The aim of the JTS education strategy is to promote, connect and develop educational programmes in the field of digital society, technology and artificial intelligence.
We develop interdisciplinary courses, workshops and lectures for professionals, students and other interested parties.
