Five Groningen Science Bachelor’s programmes judged best by Elsevier
On 26 September 2013, Elsevier published the results of its annual survey of the best university and university of applied science degree programmes in the Netherlands. The results are based on evaluations given by 264,000 students in the National Student Survey.
This year, five of the thirteen Bachelor’s programmes at the Groningen Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences topped the tables in their programme category: Pharmacy, Life Science & Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. Four other Bachelor’s programmes finished in second place in their category: Biology, Astronomy, Applied Physics and Mathematics. Ten of the thirteen Science Bachelor's programmes are English-taught , in that number unique in the Netherlands.
About 264,000 Dutch universitary students have judged their degree programme and university according to the facilities, programme set-up, quality of teaching and lecturers, assessments and exams and internal organization and communication.
In addition, around 2,000 professors were asked which university programmes in their field they considered to be the best (excluding their own programme). The Bachelor's programmes in Chemistry, Theology and Philosophy taught in Groningen came out on top.
