Summer is a time where people often either spend a lot of money on fun activities, or use the time to make and save up money. Are you planning on doing the latter? In this blog, we talk about 6 alternative ways in which you can earn money as a student during summer.
#1 Sell your stuff
An easy way to make money is to sell all the things you don’t need anymore. You can easily put your old clothes, books, furniture and other stuff up for sale on Marktplaats, Facebook Marketplace or Vinted. Once an item is sold, the only thing you have to do is to pack it and send it off to its new owner. Easy peasy!
#2 Start an Etsy shop
Do you have a hobby that you could turn into a business? Then try starting an Etsy shop! Etsy is the perfect platform for selling things like art, handmade clothes, jewellery, and so much more. What better than to make some money while doing what you enjoy?
#3 Go freelance
Freelancing is also a good idea. You can decide what you want to work on, when you want to work and where. You could even work while travelling! So if you have a talent for, for example, voice-acting, website design, writing, or something else, freelancing might be for you. Nice platforms for this type of job are Fiverr and Upwork. Create an account, bring your skills and you’re good to go!
#4 Dog sitting
If you’re an animal lover you could try out dog sitting. You can sign up on websites such as Pawshake, or ask your friends if someone is looking for a dog sitter. There will always be people who were late with applying for dog boarding houses or who have decided to go away at the last minute and are therefore in need of someone who takes care of their dog (or other pets). It’s the perfect job because who wouldn’t want to cuddle and care for cute dogs, right?
#5 Start walking
Another way to make money is by walking. Download one of the many apps with which you can do this, such as Sweatcoin, and start walking! Keep in mind that you do not earn actual money but coins or points instead. With these coins you can buy discount codes for your favourite brands, or you can donate your coins to charities. So, if you want to get active this summer while sporting some new clothes this is your way to do it!
#6 Do online surveys
Don’t want to get out of bed to make money? You could also fill in online surveys! Again, there are lots of websites on which you can do this, but make sure to check their reliability. Once you’re signed up you can easily earn up to €7 per survey. Not bad, right? ;)
So here you have it, 6 alternative ways to earn money as a student during the summer. If you know other alternative ways in which you can earn money, let us know in the comments below. We are very curious and your input is always appreciated. Good luck with earning and saving up!
