Nominees Ben Feringa Impact Award 2024

Every year, the University of Groningen presents the Ben Feringa Impact Award to UG researchers and students who have made outstanding achievements in the field of knowledge utilization, i.e. who have connected their research to the professional (non-academic) world and/or societal (including economic) practice. The award will demonstrate the University’s appreciation for their exceptional contribution to knowledge utilization.

The prize will be awarded in two categories: one for researchers and one for students. Find this year's nominees per category below. The award ceremony will be held on 21 May 2024.

Category researcher

Impact: 'MyLeg', research on lower-limb protheses
Date:13 May 2024

One of the three researchers nominated for the Ben Feringa Impact Award 2024 is Raffaella Carloni, Associate Professor of Robotics. Carloni conducted research on the development of lower-limb protheses.

Impact: 'URinControl', treatment of urine loss through app

One of the three researchers nominated for the Ben Feringa Impact Award 2024 is general practicioner and researcher-epidemiologist Anne Loohuis. Loohuis conducted research on the treatment of urine loss through the self-help app URinControl'.

Impact: The public perception and acceptability of sustainable transitions

Goda Perlaviciute, associate professor at the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences, has been nominated for the Ben Feringa Impact Award 2024 in the researcher category. Perlaviciute was nominated for her research on the public perception and acceptability of sustainable transactions, with a special focus on energy transitions.

Impact: Utilization of geospatial data within international development cooperation

One of students nominated for the Ben Feringa Impact Award 2024 is Jonas Göbel. Göbel is nominated because of his internship research around the utilization of geospatial data in the field of international development cooperation.

Impact: The obstacles and opportunities in establishing food gardens

A team of three students has been nominated for the Ben Feringa Impact Award 2024, namely: Leslie Knigge, Martin Ottens and Yasmin Madsen. The students were nominated for their thesis research on obstacles and opportunities in establishing food gardens.
