Pre-announcement: European call for energy technology contributing to a climate neutral Europe

23 August 2023

What technological breakthroughs can help accelerate the energy transition? More innovation is needed for a low-emission economy in the EU of 2050. The European Clean Energy Transition partnership is expected to launch the second call within the seven-year programme at the end of September. The total budget for the expected call is EUR 2 million. NWO is a partner in this European partnership.

The European Clean Energy Transition (CET) partnership announces a broad international call to contribute to Europe's ambition to become a climate-neutral continent by 2050. Within the call, Dutch researchers can apply for funding for international cooperation.

Research themes

Awarded international projects will make a significant contribution to one or more of the following research themes:

  • The development and sustainable deployment of large-scale CCUS technologies aimed at carbon capture, utilisation and storage;
  • Developing model systems for integrated energy transition ecosystems with a (geographic) regional focus. These model systems should make optimal use of potential synergies in energy generation and consumption;
  • Developing and demonstrating technical solutions for integrated industrial energy systems leading to carbon neutral industrial areas.

A total budget of 2 million euros is available for Dutch applicants for this call. An application maximum of 650,000 euros applies per project.

Information meeting

On 13 September 2023, the CET partnership will organise an online information meeting. The meeting provides applicants with more information about the thematic structure, the requirements of the calls and the application procedure. In addition, there is room for networking and matchmaking takes place.

For more information and registration see the NWO website.
