I am an Assistant Professor (UD1) of Social Studies Education at the University of Groningen with a passion for combining educational experience and theory.

I am a Chair of the Gamma Cluster (History, Geography, Economics, Latin/Greek, Philosophy, Civics, and Religious Studies) and a Staff Member of the Interuniversity Center for Educational Research (ICO). Moreover, I am a Board Member of the Groningen War and Resistance Center (OVCG) and the Royal Netherlands Historical Society. I am also a Jury Member of the Dutch History Teacher of the Year election, Comenius Network Member, and Editorial Board Member of the peer-reviewed scientific journals HERJ and Dimensies.

Specialties: Citizenship education, use of AR/VR in education, (student) teachers' professional development, teaching and learning of social studies, educational assessment.
