prof. dr. S. (Stynke) Castelein

Professor of Recovery from Severe Mental Illness

Stynke Castelein is professor of recovery from severe mental illness at the University of Groningen, Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences and head of the research department at Lentis Psychiatric Institute, Groningen. Her research focuses on clinical, societal and personal recovery in people with severe mental illness. Her line of research consists of both epidemiolgical studies and intervention studies on e.g. peer support and skills training, clinical decision tools, therapeutic alliance lifestyle and oral health. She is a board member of the Dutch Quality Institute of Mental Healthcare (AKWAGGz) and participated in national guideline development (Dutch Guideline for Schizophrenia (2005; 2012) and the Clinical Care Standard for Psychosis (2017). She is secretary of the European Network for Mental Health Service Evaluation and editorial board member of the Dutch journal 'Tijdschrift voor Participatie en Herstel'.
