prof. dr. S.C.D. (Sven) van Ijzendoorn
Sven C.D. van IJzendoorn (born 1969) obtained his Masters degree in at the University of Maastricht (The Netherlands) in 1995. From 1995 until 1999 he performed his Ph.D. studies (thesis title: "transport and sorting of sphingolipids in polarized cells") at the Department of Physiological Chemistry at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) which he completed Cum Laude. From 1999 until 2001 he was a Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) post-doctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Keith Mostov at the UCSF in San Francisco (USA). Between 2001 ansd 2005, he was a Fellow of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences and Arts (KNAW) at the University of Groningen/ University Medical Center Groningen. In 2006 he was appointed UHD (equivalent of assoc. prof / sen. lecturer), and in 2014 he was appointed as full professor of Cell Biology. Since 2009, Sven van IJzendoorn is also programme leader of the Center for Liver, Digestive & Metabolic Diseases at the University Medical Center Groningen.
