Curriculum Vitae

I have been trained as a clinical psychologist and a psychometrician at the University of Amsterdam and did my Ph.d. in Psychiatry at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In 2002, I moved to the department of Psychiatry at the UMCG Groningen. In 2006, I received a VIDI entitled Somatic Depression: a cardiotoxic disorder in search of treatment. In 2012, I received a VICI entitled Decontructing Depression. Together with professor Tineke Oldehinkel, I am leading the research program Interdisciplinary Center Psychopathology and Emotion regulation (ICPE) since 2008. I have published >350 papers in English peer-reviewed journals, and am/have been involved in supervising >40 Ph.d students. I have received >5 M euro of funding for my research, from governmental and non-profit organisations. Since 2016 I am chair of the Department Developmental Psychology and since 2019 Director of Research of the Department Psychology.
