P. (Peter) Fodran, Dr
After graduating from Comenius University in Bratislava, Peter moved to Groningen (The Netherlands), where he did his PhD research in the group of Prof. Adri Minnaard. The unifying topic of his thesis was an efficient synthesis of various (phospho)lipids spanning all domains of Life.
After defending his thesis, Peter stayed in the group of Adri Minnaard as a postdoc developing a 29 steps synthesis of Methoxy Mycolic, which is the key component of the membrane of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of tuberculosis.
After completing the synthesis and leaving the lab of Adri Minnaard, Peters's intersectoral and international journey started. First, he worked at Symeres on the synthesis of process impurities and analogues of natural products. Next, thanks to Carl Tryggers and Marie Curie fellowships, Peter moved to the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), where he worked with Dr. Calle Wallentin on photoredox catalysis. From Sweden, Peter was recruited to the United Kingdom, where he worked as a process chemist at Pharmaron UK and as a medicinal chemist at Charles River Laboratories.
Peters's journey continues where it started – at the University of Groningen, where he holds a tenure-track position in sustainable drug development.
