Research Focus - Digital transformation of organizations
Nicolai Fabian is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the University of Groningen. His research deals with technological change in organizations. Specifically, he is interested in how emerging digital technologies (e.g., AI, cloud, Big Data) change organizations and under what conditions such change leads to positive or negative consequences. He works mostly with a quantitative approach and has experience in survey research, econometric methods, computational methods such as natural language processing or configurational methods such as fsQCA. His work has been published in the European Journal of Information Systems, and the Journal of Business Research and is highly cited. He also presented his work at major conferences such as the AOM, ICIS, or ECIS. He also published and co-edited a free-access managerial eBook on digital transformation. Furthermore, he is active as a guest editor for a special issue on knowledge engineering in the Journal of Business Research and serves as an ad-hoc reviewer. At the faculty, he is the theme coordinator for the interdisciplinary theme on Digital/AI as well as the coordinator for the Focus Area on Digital Business, theme coordinator. He is also affiliated with the Groningen Digital Business Center (GDBC).
