Vici grant (1.5 million euro) from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) under its Talent Program to senior, talented, and creative researchers to develop their own line of research.

Elevated to IEEE Fellow for "contributions to multi-agent control systems for sensor, robotic and social networks." IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity with more than 400,000 members in more than 160 countries; less than 0.1% of voting members are selected annually for this distinction.

Finalist, the Best Paper Award of the 2021 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) for the paper "Distributed coordinated path following using guiding vector fields", co-authored with W. Yao, H. Garcia De Marina, and Z. Sun

Finalist, the Best Paper Award of the 15th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision (ICARCV 2018) for the paper "Multi-robot motion-formation distributed control with sensor self-calibration," co-authored with H. Garcia De Marina, J. Siemonsma, and B. Jayawardhana.

ERC consolidator grant from the European Research Council that "encourages the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and supports investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, on the basis of scientific excellence."

Manfred Thoma medal from the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) for the 2014-2017 triennial period. "The Manfred Thoma medal, created in 2015, recognizes outstanding contributions of a young researcher and/or engineer under the age of 40 to the field of systems and control in its widest sense."

Selected as a member of the Young Academy Groningen (YAG), which is an independent organization within the University of Groningen to promote interdisciplinary research, contribute viewpoints on science policy and talent development, and organize inspiring activities for the public to boost the relationship between science and society.
