M.A. (Margaret) Finlay
Margaret Finlay is a PhD Candidate at the University of Groningen. She obtained a B.A. with Honours in English Literature (2020) at Acadia University (Canada) and an M.A. in Medieval Literature and Languages (2021, Distinction) at the University of York (U.K.). Her research focus is predominantly on late medieval romance, particularly Arthurian literature.
She is currently teaching on Reading Early English and English for Academic Purposes: Research Reports at the University of Groningen. She has presented guest lectures in medieval literature, predominantly on Chaucer and Old English poetry at Acadia University, and taught on a first year Medieval Literature class at Cardiff University (U.K.).
Margaret Finlay's first article, '"A noble knyght and a myghty man": Gareth as Disruptive Presence and Absence in Malory’s Morte Darthur' (Arthuriana: forthcoming), was initially presented as the Inaugural Fiona Tolhurst Lecture at the Symposium for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in St. Louis, Missouri (U.S.A.) in 2022.
