K.G.K.W. (Klaus) Derfuss, Dr
Klaus Derfuss is a tenured Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting and Auditing and an Associate Accounting Fellow at the FEB Research Institute of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands). Prior to joining the University of Groningen, he was an Assistant Professor at the FernUniversität in Hagen (Germany), where he received his Habilitation in 2018 and his doctoral degree (Dr. rer. pol.) in 2009. Between September 2019 and April 2021, Klaus was an Interim Professor of Management at the TU Dortmund University (Germany).
Klaus’ research covers areas at the intersection of management accounting and control, corporate governance, strategy, and service management. Focusing on behavioural research questions in these areas, Klaus uses theory and insights from economics, psychology, and strategy research to investigate the links between these areas and to their organisational and behavioural antecedents and consequences. His research has been published in leading academic accounting and management journals such as Abacus, Accounting, Organizations and Society, European Accounting Review, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Service Research, Review of Managerial Science, The British Accounting Review. His article in the Journal of Marketing has won the AMA SERVSIG Best Service Article in 2017 Award.
