As an ethologist I am interested to learn why animals behave the way they do. I currently investigate how environmental conditions, especially the dynamic social environment that an animal experiences, affect the development and stability of between-individual differences in behaviour, so called animal personalities.

My PhD project, titled "The eco-evo-devo of social personalities in three-spined sticklebacks (Gasterosteus aculeatus)", comprises of experimental studies in the lab and in semi-natural mesocosms, combined with fieldwork and theoretical modelling.
