North Sea Progressive Myoclonus Epilepsy (NS-PME) is a rare genetic disease resulting in early onset ataxia, areflexia, progressive myoclonus and epilepsy. Patients are currently treated with individual drug-cocktails to manage the disease. In this project we use a Drosophila melanogaster model that mimics the human disease to investigate a big library of drugs to identify new treatment options as well as the underlying mechanism to identify new treatment targets.
