prof. dr. H.P.H. (Berry) Kremer
Prof. dr. Hubertus P.H. (Berry) Kremer (1956) attended medical school at Utrecht University from 1974 till 1981. After his MD and a year of compulsory military service, he did his residencies in Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry at the Academic Hospital Leiden. He subsequently worked as a junior staff member at that same hospital, during which time he performed his thesis research, in Leiden and at the Netherlands Institute for Brian Research (currently: Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience) in Amsterdam. In 1992 and 1993 he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the department of Medical Genetics, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, where he was extensively involved in research on Huntington’s Disease. Back in The Netherlands he obtained a position at the department of Neurology, University Medical Center St. Radboud in Nijmegen, since 1999 as a full professor. His clinical as well as his research interest are neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Huntington’s disease and spinocerebellar ataxias. From September 2009 onwards he chairs the Department of Neurology, University Medical Center Groningen.
