dr. D.A. (Deborah) Sival
•Deborah Sival obtained her MD degree from the Erasmus University Rotterdam (1988).
•She obtained her PhD degree in Medicine from the University of Groningen (1993) on the thesis titled "Studies on fetal motor behaviour in complicated pregnancies" (supervisors: Prof. dr. H.F.R. Prechtl, Prof. dr. G.H.A. Visser). The studies describe the assessment of fetal and neonatal motor behavior as a clinical evaluation tool for the integrity of the human central nervous system.
•From 1992-1998 Deborah Sival was a resident in Neurology at the University Hospital Groningen, under supervision of Prof.dr. H.J.G.H. Oosterhuis and Prof. dr. J.H.A. de Keyser.
•In 1998 Deborah Sival obtained her registration in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology.
•From 1999-2000 Deborah Sival performed her fellowship Pediatric Neurology at the Beatrix Children’s Hospital –University Medical Center Groningen, Head Prof. dr. P.J.J. Sauer.
•From 2001 onwards Deborah Sival has been a consultant in Pediatric Neurology at the Beatrix Children’s Hospital –University Medical Center Groningen
•From 1992 onwards Deborah Sival has been conducting studies on pre- and postnatal motor behavior, neurophysiological analysis and neuropathology in human spina bifida aperta.
•From 2014 onwards Deborah Sival is a Principle Investigator (PI) at the University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen. She is a member of the center of expertise "Movement Disorders" and she mentors PhD students studying early phenotypic recognition of movement disorders and neuromuscular abnormalities in young children.
•From 2019, Deborah Sival has been Associate Editor of the European Journal of Paediatric Neurology, the official journal of the European Paediatric Neurologic Society.
