Workshops for anyone with a role related to training/coaching university teachers

The Educational Support and Innovation team of the University of Groningen routinely offers 'Train the Trainer' type courses for anyone with a role related to the training or coaching of university teachers. These sessions range from individual workshops to a more-impactful week-long programme. In past offerings throughout Europe, participants have included educational developers (of all levels), administrators with a role related to professional development of teachers, and/or university teachers tasked with working with colleagues to implement new teaching methods.

Our facilitators are experts in both the research and practice of university teaching development, so topics can consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Theory of academic development, focusing on the professional development of didactic staff;
  • Performing needs analysis of didactic staff;
  • Designing training programmes with impact – to make sure that the impact is high and will last;
  • Analysing and selecting effective training skills;
  • Evaluation – researching whether the aim of professional development activities are achieved.
