I am an assistant professor at the Centre for Journalism and Media Studies at the Arts Faculty. I applied to the YAG because I think academia needs new narratives, moving away from the idea that we need to excel in every aspect of our work and can only do so by prioritizing our work above all else. One myth we need to discard is that of the individual great mind, which is still at the heart of many (inter)national funding schemes. Great research needs a community to exchange, feedback, critique, and to collaborate! So let’s start emphasizing and rewarding the value of teamwork more!
