Application information 2024
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a passion for transplantation medicine within both clinical and research fields. The applications (including those for scholarships) are now closed, as of 22nd of April.
Complete the required application form and attach your curriculum vitae, video pitch and application essay (max. 1 A4).
Following acceptance into the Summer School, and payment of the required participation fee, participants who require a visa letter will be provided with one. Preparation of a visa letter may take 2-3 working days, so participants outside the EU should take this into consideration when applying for the SSTX.
Admission documents
1) Curriculum vitae
2) Video pitch (minimum 1 minute) explicitly answering the following questions:
- Why do you want to take part in the SSTX?
- What traits make you a suitable candidate for the SSTX?
- What special interest do you have in transplantation medicine?
- If possible, substantiate your claims with reports of past experience
3) 1 A4-page essay tackling one of the following questions (minimum 500 words, including an introduction, main body, and conclusion). Please include sources if relevant. All essays will undergo plagiarism scanning.
- Navigating environmental and ethical challenges of organ transplantation
- Challenges and opportunities of xenotransplantation
- Medical complications following an organ transplantation
- Advantages and disadvantages of machine perfusion
Scholarship
The SSTX offers a full scholarship to a highly motivated applicant. Requirements for the scholarship application include an extra A4 motivation letter. In this letter please reason why you think you should receive the scholarship, and mention your special interest in transplantation medicine. Please submit your motivation letter to the SSTX e-mail (summerschooltransplantation rug.nl) with an e-mail title: [Your name], SSTX 2024 Scholarship Application.

Early decision deadline: March 22nd 2024
Regular decision deadline: April 22nd 2024
Note: All applicants who also applied for the scholarship will be reviewed as part of the Regular Decision Deadline, no matter their date of application.
Cancellation policy
- Participants who cancel more than 6 weeks before the start of the course are liable to a full refund
- Participants who cancel within 6 weeks before the start of the course are liable to pay the full course fee.
- Participants who withdraw during the course are liable to pay the full course fee.
