General information

The transnational project “Transcultural Encounters in Spanish Teacher Education”, funded by the DAAD within the programme International Virtual Academic Collaborations 3.0, is being developed and implemented jointly by the University of Hamburg (coordination), Germany, the University of Granada, Spain and the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. The project runs from 01.08.-31.12.2023. The funding amount is 21 000€.

Project aims

The project aims to integrate virtual cooperation formats, i.e. asynchronous and physical exchanges between student teachers from the University of Hamburg and the University of Granada, into the curricula of Spanish Teacher Education at the Faculty of Education at the University of Hamburg and the Faculty of Education and Sport at the University of Granada, Campus Melilla.

The exchanges are being developed, implemented, and accompanied by one lecturer from the University of Groningen. These virtual collaborations allow students and lecturers who are financially disadvantaged, have family responsibilities or students and teachers who care for a family member or have limited physical mobility to gain international experience, which can promote equal opportunities.

A third objective for students and teachers at the University of Hamburg, the University of Granada and teachers at the University of Groningen is to apply developed digital and intercultural competences.

Measures

• Development of an asynchronous online course via OpenOlat and a bilateral physical exchange for the Spanish students in the Bachelor's at the University of Hamburg and in the Master's at the University of Granada;

• Development and use of reflection e-portfolios for the students;

• Use of digital collages;

• Development of OER for critical cultural awareness through digital tools.

Our project aims to promote intercultural exchange, develop and use digital collaborative collages and e-portfolios, and discover and critically reflect on linguistic and cultural diversity in our own and other cultures.
