Polar Research Groningen
Pioneering research, a multidisciplinary approach and a vast international network empowers the University of Groningen to play a leading role in polar research and education. Not only by researching the changing processes in the polar regions and their relations to the global system but also by delivering experts to the public debate and to important scientific and political advisory bodies.
We have a broad research expertise with a main focus on long-term human environment relations in the polar regions, ecology of migratory birds, the affects of climate change on biology and how biology will feed back onto global climate, the origine of emissions in the Arctic, climate and paleoclimate.
We are leading the Dutch Willem Barentsz Polar Research Network, WBPI.
