Work Placements in Washington

Take the opportunity to do an internship at a number of organizations in Washington DC!

This programme is intended for advanced law students who are interested in the workings of the American legal system, the American political decision-making process, in international legal issues or current affairs. Each academic year, a maximum of ten students can take part for a period of three months.

How to apply?

Contact Dr Tobias Nowak from the Department of Transboundary Legal Studies.

Grant applications: after you have been selected for the programme, register your internship through Mobility Online in order to receive a grant from our university - Marco Polo Traineeship grant.

Placement periods available : September - December, November - February or February - May.

Application deadline: the selection process is ongoing, but please keep in mind that you should apply for the Marco Polo grant at least 6 weeks before departure!

Minimum requirements: you need to be enrolled as a full-time student at our univeristy during the placement & you need to be proficient in English.

Following a selection procedure in Groningen, potential participants will be placed with an organization in Washington DC. Further information on this, including the organizations involved, reports from previous participants, and the application/selection procedure, is available from the Department of Legal Theory Secretariat. Students will qualify for a Marco Polo grant, more information can be obtained at the International Office.
