Prof. Kochenov's work on the Rule of Law quoted in the Financial Times

In its analysis of the situation with the dismantlement of independent public broadcasting in Poland, the January 4 edition of the Financial Times (free registration required) referred to the work on the European Union's Rule of Law protection mechanisms conducted by Prof. Dimitry Kochenov, who holds a Chair in EU Constitutional Law in Groningen and now teaches at Princeton and Laurent Pech, Jean Monnet Professor and Head of School at Middlesex University, London.

There is a chance that Poland will be the first country to be put under the scrutiny of the new European Commission's 'pre-Article 7 procedure' to defend the basic EU values in the Member States at risk of falling short of observing shared European standards in the field of democracy and the rule of law. The paper which the FT consulted appeared in the last issue of the European Constitutional Law Review and was also published, in an expanded and reworked French language version, in the Revue trimestrielle de droit européen in co-authorship with Sébastien Platon, Professor of Public Law and Bordeaux Faculty of Law.
