Making UG impact on Sustainable Development Goals visible

The University of Groningen (UG) aims to make a significant and visible contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To make this impact visible, SDG labels have now been added to the personal profile pages and overview pages of research units on the UG Research Portal. These labels are based on publications currently listed in Pure, with the focus for now on English-language works or publications in Pure with an English-language abstract.

A researcher or research unit can thus show to which SDGs their research can be linked to. Researchers keep control over the SDG labels displayed, and can add or remove labels themselves if desired.

The Sustainable Development Goals are a set of 17 goals set by the United Nations and adopted by 193 countries in 2015. Through sustainable (economic, environmental and social) development, the overall goal is to create a better world and life for all by 2030.

Dutch universities are working together on the SDGs.
