Cinema Politica Groningen is thrilled to partner with the Colombian Migrant Film Festival for an evening of short documentaries about indigenous and environmental activism in Colombia.
Screening 1 (selected by Cinema Politica Groningen): "Frontera Invisible"
The documentary "Frontera Invisible" is an urgent film about indigenous communities in Colombia that organize to protect their land and people from dangerous biofuel policies.
Screening 2 (selected by the Colombian Migrant Film Festival): "Bosques el último refugio del aire"
The second documentary "Bosques: el último refugio del aire" (ENG: "Forests: the last refuge of air") by Fernanda Pineda shows the reality faced by indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities in Colombia, whose survival depends on forests. Through their stories, it is revealed how deforestation and industry threaten their way of life and the air we all breathe. This film is a call to action to ensure a sustainable future for the planet, discover how forests can be our last refuge from the air and be part of the fight for their conservation.
After the two short documentaries, there will be time to chat with researcher Dr Iva Peša from the Faculty of Arts, who is an expert on environmental history. Her research aims to explain why people react differently to serious pollution and environmental degradation.
There will be ample time for Q&A from the audience as well.
