New route to Zernike Campus opens on 3 September
As of Monday 3 September 2018 a new bicycle route will be launched to get directly into the heart of the Zernike Campus. This route runs – via a new bridge - underneath the Linnaeusborg to the Paddepoelsterweg, the extension of the smart Zernike bicycle route through Selwerd. Interestingly, this new bicycle path will follow the exact course of the historical Penningsdijk.
This new temporary access route is being created to keep the Zernike Campus accessible for cyclists during major building projects such as the Feringa Building and the redevelopment of the Zernikelaan. Students, staff and visitors of the northern part of the Zernike Campus can use this new bicycle route, which ends on the Grouwelerie/Nijenborgh crossroads, as of 3 September.
Some asphalt repair works will take place on the Paddepoelsterweg in late August, so that the new bicycle path can be used from the start of the new academic year. Cyclists coming from Selwerd will be alerted to this new route.
Closing bicycle path behind Nijenborgh 4
The route along the back of Nijenborgh 4 will be closed, so that preparatory work for the construction of Feringa Building can be started. The other routes to the campus, via the Zonnelaan / Zernikelaan and via the Jaagpad / Sportcentrum, remain to be used.
