UG signs multi-year maintenance contract with UNICA, SPIE and EQUANS
The University of Groningen (UG) has signed a new maintenance contract with three suppliers for the electrical and mechanical maintenance of all its properties for the next 15 years. Within the agreement, the UG is moving away from condition-based maintenance and has started the transition to risk-based maintenance.

Safe, energy-efficient and well-functioning buildings
The maintenance contract took effect on 1 March 2025. It includes preventive and corrective maintenance, service work and replacement maintenance of ventilation systems, heating and cooling systems, fire alarm and extinguishing systems and energy generation. With the course towards risk-based maintenance, the UG focuses on controlling acceptable and non-acceptable defects within this agreement. This contributes to safe, energy-efficient and well-functioning buildings.
Three sub-areas
Within the agreement, maintenance is divided into three geographical areas, within which one of the suppliers is responsible for maintenance in the UG buildings:
-
City Centre Campus: UNICA
-
Healthy Ageing Campus: SPIE
-
Zernike Campus + outlying areas: EQUANS
The UG looks forward to a successful cooperation and a sustainable and efficient future for property management within the UG.
