Method and participants

First, we studied the literature on sexual abuse of children in foster care. Next, we did a survey in foster care services in the Netherlands about reports of incidents. More information on incidents was collected by means of individual and group interviews. Then, we qualitatively analyzed the victims´ reports to the committee and the interviews we held with victims and foster parents who were caring for a child with sexual abuse experiences previous to placement. Finally, we did an archival study in one foster care service, looking for reports on incidents and follow-ups.
