"I am Nikolaos Biniaris, an MSc graduate in Technology & Operations Management from the University of Groningen. My program centered on operations and data-driven decision making, with key coursework in data analysis, asset management, operations modeling, and smart industry practices.
Prior to this, I earned a BSc in Maritime Studies with a focus on Supply Chain Management from the University of Piraeus, where I developed foundational expertise in logistics, port management, and transportation systems. I have professional experience as an Energy & Fuels Analyst, where I worked on enhancing data quality and operational efficiency in the shipping & logistics sales sector.
This role involved maintaining dashboards, performing data checks, and developing automated processes to monitor fuel prices and quality. For my MSc thesis, Predictive Fairness in Healthcare Patient Readmissions: Equity in Hospital Decision-Making, I developed a framework using machine learning algorithms and explainable AI tools to detect and mitigate bias in clinical prediction models, specifically for patient readmissions.
My research examined how biases in healthcare data can affect outcomes, often reinforcing inequalities. By applying bias-mitigation techniques and focusing on sensitive data attributes, I aimed to support fairer and more equitable predictions across diverse patient groups, promoting more inclusive and transparent healthcare decision-making."
