Study Association

A study association is an organization run by a team of students from the respective bachelor’s and master’s degree programme(s). The FSE study associations organize many activities for students, including introductory camps and monthly “borrels” (informal social gatherings, often with drinks), but also more serious events such as company visits or conferences. Study associations differ from the general student associations where the degree programme is irrelevant. And study associations do not have hazing rituals.

Welcome to G.F.S.V. ‘’Pharmaciae Sacrum’’

Dear future Pharmacy student,

Finally! After a long time of secondary school, you can start a new life as a student in the best student city the Netherlands has to offer: Groningen!

The study association ‘Pharmaciae Sacrum’ would like to welcome you to the Pharmacy degree program! This programme is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in various fields of pharmacy. But studying at a university does not just mean cramming your head with information – it is also a time where you can develop your personal talents, learn more about yourself, make new friends and have loads of fun.

Before you get bogged down in lectures, practicals and your first exams, there is still time to get to know your fellow students. To help you in the right direction, the First-years Introduction Committee (IC) has organized a few introduction activities!

First of all, the Faculty Introduction Day. This is the ideal opportunity to learn about the Pharmacy degree programme, the study association (G.F.S.V. “Pharmaciae Sacrum”) and to get to know your future fellow students. Faculty Introduction Day by G.F.S.V. ‘’Pharmaciae Sacrum’’

The Faculty Introduction Day is the ideal opportunity to learn about the Pharmacy degree programme, the study association (G.F.S.V. “Pharmaciae Sacrum”) and to get to know your future fellow students. The day will take place on Friday the 30th of August 2024. You will be expected at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Antonius Deusinglaan 1 at 10.00h. Bus numbers 1, 3, 4 and 10 stop at the closest bus stop, ‘UMCG Noord’. See pictures 1 for the location and picture 2 for a view of the entrance.

Make sure to sign up for the Pharmacy Introduction Day, so you will get the best possible start of the Academic Year! You can sign up starting from the 1st of July 2024 via www.psgroningen.nl.

Introduction Weekend

The Introduction Weekend will be held after the first week of lectures, on the 6th, 7th and 8th of September in Bakkeveen. This weekend is the perfect opportunity to discover the world of G.F.S.V. “Pharmaciae Sacrum’’ with your new fellow students and future friends. But you will not only meet each other, as the weekend also serves as an introduction to all the P.S. committee members and lots of other members of the association. Several fun activities will be organized and, of course, themes parties in the evenings that will be difficult to forget!

We will leave for Bakkeveen at 16:45h on September 6 by bus. The buses will be ready and waiting at Groningen Centraal Station from 16:30h. Do not be late or you will risk missing the weekend! The Introduction Weekend will be held at ‘The Loryann’ farm camp site. The address is: Houtwal 11, in Bakkeveen.

The Introduction Weekend is the ideal way to get to know your fellow students! You must be a member of P.S. to participate. Information about G.F.S.V. ‘’Pharmaciae Sacrum’’

The University of Groningen’s Pharmaceutical Student Association "Pharmaciae Sacrum" is the study association of Pharmacy students in Groningen. Founded in 1881, Pharmaciae Sacrum (Latin for ‘the sacred of Pharmacy’) is the oldest study association in Groningen and the second-oldest from the Netherlands. Pharmaciae Sacrum, often abbreviated to P.S., is a department of the Royal Dutch Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (K.N.P.S.V.). The boardroom of Pharmaciae Sacrum is located in the basement of building 3213, part of the building that accommodates Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Movement Sciences at Antonius Deusinglaan 1.

Pharmaciae Sacrum offers countless activities organized by several committees. For example, a P.S. Social Drink is organized every first Tuesday of the month in Café 'De Toeter' and the First-year Committee organizes three EJC-parties and one EJC Activity a year. As well as parties, Pharmaciae Sacrum also arranges other activities, such as the End-of-school year Camp, a Sports Evening, Charity Events, an annual Gala Ball and a Foreign Trip. These activities are a chance to have a distraction from your study and have fun with your fellow students.

Next to social activities, P.S. offers her members a lot on an educational level. You get substantial discounts on books if you order them via us and we can also arrange discounts on lab coats and other lab equipment (more information can be found here). We organize excursions, lectures, symposia, an annual study trip and much more!

Most of the activities mentioned above are organized by one of the many committees of P.S. P.S. is managed by an executive board, consisting of five students. The board manages the association and takes care of the coordination of the committees. The board is the point of contact for all members. If you have any questions, just send us an e-mail.
